Utah Division of Natural Resources wants to remind the public that there is a new law for Off-Highway vehicle operators in Utah. The new law requires all OHV operators to complete an OHV education course before operating on public land. The course is required for EVERY OHV operator, no exceptions. Those who are below 18 years are required to take the Youth OHV Safety Course for $35 or an approved in person hands on skills course and exam. Those over 18 take the free online course that can be completed in 15 to 30 minutes. It is a once in a lifetime course and the digital certificate can be saved or printed for proof. Those that operate Type 1 ATV, Type II UTV or Side-by-side, Type III OHV, Off-Highway Motorcycles, as well as street legal Off-Highway Vehicles will need to take the course. Individuals will not be able to rent an OHV unless the operator has proof of completing the course. Those that are non-resident visitors will need to complete the course before operating in Utah and purchase the non-resident OHV permit. Go to ohv.utah.gov to take the course or learn more. The law went into effect January 1st and has been enforced since February 1st.
