In a press release, the TriCounty Health Department has announced a department change to the operation hours. Starting December 28th, 2020 TriCounty Health will open Monday through Thursday from 7:30am to 5:30pm and then Friday 8am to 5pm. The new hours of operation are aimed to make the public health staff more readily available for public health needs in the tri-county area during more convenient times. “If we are open till 5:30 p.m. it allows those that work till 5 p.m. to still come to us if they need a WIC appointment, vaccinations or to drop off water samples,” shares Health Officer Jordan Mathis. “Opening at 7:30 a.m. will allow earlier start for those that have more time in their morning schedules, vaccines before school starts, environmental health needs on your way to work. This is a way to better serve for health.” Statistically this small change will increase the number of hours the department is open to the public by 3 hours per week, 156 hours per year, and equating to the equivalent of almost 4 more weeks per year.
