New numbers are in from the Department of Workforce Services and it’s been another good month for growth. Utah’s employment for July grew over the previous year by 3.9 percent, adding 57,100 jobs to the economy since July 2017. “Utah experienced yet another month of significant growth in the job market,” shares DWS Chief Economist Carrie Mayne. “Fueled by robust economic conditions, the state added the highest number of jobs year-over for 2018 while maintaining a notably low unemployment rate.” July’s unemployment rate on a state level increased by one-tenth of a percent from 3 to 3.1 percent. Nationally, unemployment decreased one-tenth of a percent from 4 to 3.9 percent. Unemployment numbers by county will be released later this week.
