New Crosswalks in Roosevelt City for Pedestrians and Drivers to Be Aware Of

A new school year means a surge of pedestrians on sidewalks and crossing roads. Roosevelt City has announced the installation of new crosswalks and the message that in the busy hours before and after school, it is essential that everyone, whether walking or driving, follow safety guidelines at crosswalks. There are two new pedestrian crossings at the new Union High School. Both cross Lagoon Street with one at 800 East and another just west of North Union Street. “We have just put in new crosswalks by the high school,” says Roosevelt City Manager Ryan Snow. “We had waited to see where kids are actually crossing. Now that we have gotten the crosswalk in, it’s important to highlight both where they are and dangers of not crossing in them.” Pedestrians should only cross at designated crosswalks and should never jaywalk. Pedestrians are responsible to cross safely but drivers must also be extremely cautious in crossing zones and stop as soon as a pedestrian approaches the crosswalk.
