A Neola fire on Monday is another example of how quickly yard and agricultural burning can get out of control, according to a report from the BIA Forestry & Wildlife Fire – Uintah & Ouray Agency. Neola Fire Department was called out just before 3:00pm on April 9th to a field fire north of Neola on a private farm near
11000 North 3400 West.
Neola Fire responded with three fire engines but the fire quickly spread onto Ute Tribal lands and assistance was requested from the BIA Uintah & Ouray Agency who sent out 2 wildland fire engines. LaPoint-Tridell Fire, Utah Forestry & Fire, BLM and US Forest Service were also all requested as the fire spread in thick sagebrush, grass and juniper trees. The fire burned 12 acres total and thankfully no structures were damaged and no injuries were reported, shares the BIA Uintah & Ouray Agency, who emphasized the need to be extremely careful when burning and to be aware of the winds. Anyone who lights a fire is liable for any damages done.
