Neola Elementary was temporarily placed on lockdown
Thursday morning
. According to Duchesne County Sheriff’s Office, dispatch received a call from a woman reporting that four men had surrounded her home and one of them had a gun. The location of the home is less than 2 miles from the school and the decision to place the school on lockdown was solely precautionary and made to ensure the safety of the students, faculty, and staff, shares Lt. Jeremy Curry. Deputies responded to the home and determined that the report was false and they suspect the woman who called dispatch is suffering from some form of impairment. Deputies are working now to ensure the woman receives whatever help she may need, says Lt. Curry. The school was put on lockdown
at 11:10am
and the order was lifted
at about 11:25am
. Operations at the school returned to normal and student pickup was unaffected.
