The Bureau of Land Management Vernal Field Office has officially designated several user-created mountain bike trails in Uintah County, adding them to the managed network. The Bureau of Land Management Vernal Field Office officially designated three existing user‑created trails—Festice, Split Decision, and Rogue—within the McCoy Flats Trail System southwest of Vernal. Festice is 6 miles long, Split Decision is 3 miles long, and Rogue is 1.5 miles long, and each are primarily used for mountain biking, with some hiking and running. “Although the trails are currently rideable, maintenance and improved wayfinding are needed to address sustainability issues and discourage the development of additional user‑created ‘social’ trails.” Rogue would be designated as OHV-Closed while Festice and Split Decision would be designated OHV-Limited to Class I Electric Bikes.
