MOU Signed For Support Of Downtown Vernal Plan And Projects

Uintah County and Vernal City have entered into an interlocal agreement outlining both parties’ support of the renovation of Downtown Vernal. The MOU noted funding contributions agreed to and was approved during the joint City/County meeting held on Monday. The document states that Uintah County shall transfer funds for Downtown Development projects to Vernal City in the amount of $2 million dollars for public parking, public open spaces, park settings, and community gathering amenities. Property acquired with the funds will be jointly owned by Vernal City and Uintah County. If for any reason the funds are not used for the purchase of real property by the end of the year 2024, the Uintah County Commission can request that the funds be returned. The MOU had been approved by Vernal City Council, the Uintah County Commission, and now the Uintah County/Vernal City Interlocal Agency on Monday
