The community is rallying to show support for a motorcyclist who was seriously injured in an accident in downtown Vernal on Friday evening. Vernal Police Chief Michael Gledhill shared that the motorcycle was traveling east on Main Street at a high rate of speed. An SUV entered the intersection of Vernal Avenue and Highway 40 on a green light and the motorcyclist failed to come to a stop and collided into the side of the SUV. The driver of the SUV was treated for non-life threatening injuries. The 24-year-old young man on the motorcycle did not have a helmet or protective gear on and suffered critical injuries. In response to community members requesting ways to help, a GoFundMe was created to help support the injured motorcyclist, 24-year-old Cooper Smith.
