Moon Lake Electric Trucks Transformers To Navajo Nation

Moon Lake Electric has made a positive difference in an effort to bring power to thousands of people living in the backcountry of the Navajo Nation. The National Rural Electric Cooperative Association reported this week that Moon Lake Electric Association donated twenty 10-kilovolt single-phase transformers to the Navajo Tribal Utility Authority office to help the agency overcome shortages being faced. Moon Lake trucked the transformers 300 miles from Roosevelt to Montezuma Creek. While about 156,000 people live on Navajo land, around 14,000 are still in remote locations not connected to any power. The Light Up Navajo initiative focuses on getting basic services, including power, to those individuals. With the homes spread out the way they are, a transformer in the right location can make a real difference.
