It’s going to be an active couple of days in the forecast with monsoon moisture returning to the area. National Weather Service reports that an approaching Pacific Northwest low pressure system and monsoonal moisture will produce cooler temperatures, widespread thunderstorms, and showers. “Expect gusty winds, heavy rain, and localized flooding with these storms. Temperatures will rebound to seasonal normals over the weekend.” Duchesne County is among areas with a Flash Flood Watch in effect, especially around the burn scars. FEMA issued a special weather statement on Tuesday evening for Vernal, Naples, and Maeser. It warned that radar indicated wind gusts up to 50 mph and pea size hail. It estimated that gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects with possible damage to outdoor objects. It is recommended to secure or store items that could be taken by the wind.
