This last Saturday saw Moffat County take part of a nationwide tradition called Wreaths Across America. The event was founded by Morrill Worcester, the owner of Worcester Wreath Company in 1992. In 1992 he had a surplus of wreaths and made arrangements to place them in Arlington in one of the older sections of the cemetery. The nationwide part of the event started in 2005 when photos of the stones at Arlington covered in snow and adorned with wreaths circulated across the internet. This year there are more than 2,400 participating locations across the country. This is the second year that Moffat County has taken part. Last year the Craigs Elks lodge had 45 wreaths, this year the lodge was able to assemble 508 live, balsam veterans’ wreaths. They place them at the Craig (Fairview) Cemetery, which has 783 service members buried there.
