Following public outcry, Moffat County Sheriff’s Office announced last month the end of their use of Flock cameras in Moffat County. The Sheriff’s statement said they will not renew the contract when the current agreement expires in December and that the end of their use was effective immediately. This week, the Moffat County Sheriff’s Office took their promise a step further by physically removing the Flock cameras from locations throughout the county. “After multiple attempts by the Moffat County Sheriff’s Office to have Flock Safety remove its cameras from Moffat County, our patience has officially run out. So, we took care of it,” shares their announcement this week. “To protect Flock’s equipment from potential vandalism or damage while we wait for them to retrieve it, the cameras have been removed and are safely stored at the Sheriff’s Office.” The August announcement stated that the decision to end Flock camera use was to “balance public safety, fiscal responsibility, individual rights, and the trust of the people.”
