As we look to the future the need for science minded individuals is quite apparent. Luckily schools are stepping up their efforts in having kids engage in STEM. The Craig Press recently reported that Moffat County High School has put together a robotics team, the first ever to grace Craig’s high school. The team will be taking part of the FIRST Robotics Competition (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology). It was founded in 1989 and has teams across the United States building robots from a universal kit that must face pre-determined challenges. This year’s competition is called “Destination Deep Space” and centers on completing tasks that simulate a deep space mission. These opportunities are coming about because Moffat County School District closed the East Elementary School in Craig to make room in the budget for such initiatives.
