Vernal City Council candidate Stephen Ward has made volunteer service a priority during his time in the community. “I have volunteered as a coach, scout leader, precinct secretary, county delegate, central committee vice-chair, and in many church-related positions,” shares Ward. “Each of these opportunities has helped me learn to listen to individual needs and work with others to seek solutions. As a member of the city council, I will work to help hire and retain the best city employees, provide and enhance safe traveling routes for pedestrians and cyclists, and to keep up any streets, sidewalks, and utilities in need of repair or improvements.” Ward taught secondary math and science for most of his career and has also worked in the private sector as a geologist, geophysicist, field technician, and lab manager. During his time as Grants Administrator at UBTech, he helped secure over $100,000 in private foundation grants, and played a key role in getting the High Voltage/Lineman program up and running.
