The Meet the Candidate Radio Forum kicked off for Uintah County School Board candidates this week. Three of the five Uintah School Board seats are open this election and the radio forum is aimed at providing voters a clearer understanding on each candidate’s position on issues facing local education. Wilkins says he knows business having started Big Red Hot Oil Service in 1995 and working as the Secretary/Treasurer of Sunshine Pipeline for 20 years. He says the Uintah School District is an $86 million dollar business and that spending in some areas has to be scaled back. He also says there needs to be a better pay raise for educators. The District 1 seat has been held by Resha Bartlett who is not seeking reelection. Lori Gillman is the other District 1 candidate. District 1 voting precincts include Jensen, Davis, and part of Naples.
