McCoy Flats Death Race Breaks Record; Winner Finishes 23 Rounds

The appropriately named McCoy Flats Death Race took place over the weekend and the winner set a new event record for the number of rounds completed. If you haven’t heard of this race before, prepare to be dumbfounded. The participants run a 4.1 mile trail route every hour until only one person is left. The race started on Saturday at 6am with over 100 runners. The previous record for the Death Race was 22 rounds or in other words 90.2 miles run over 22 hours. This year’s winner was Joni Jones who ran 23 rounds which was 94.3 miles run over 23 hours. Kyle Diebold took 2nd place with 22 laps and Patrick Scoggins took 3rd place with 21 laps. Congratulations to Joni Jones and all the competitors for proving that endurance and strength have very few limits if you are determined to win the McCoy Flats Death Race!
