A group enjoying some fishing at Little Montez Reservoir in Uintah County had a frightening experience when a man approached them, accusing them of stealing his belongings while brandishing an AR-15 rifle. According to the Affidavit of Probable Cause, 48-year-old Jerry Blake Johnson was intoxicated when he allegedly accused the group of stealing his fishing gear out of his side-by-side while pointing the gun at the group. Officers responded to the call and took the statements from the group of 5 victims who also had photos and video from the incident and aftermath. One of the videos showed a woman in a blue Chevy Equinox who drove up after the man left and was filming the victim’s vehicle. Officers were able to perform a records check on the blue Equinox and found that the registered address was nearby. They visited the address and found that the vehicle and a white Chevy Tahoe, also described by the victims, were parked at the residence. Jerry Blake Johnson was arrested on August 3rd for the alleged events at Little Montez Reservoir. He admitted to officers that he had consumed half a bottle of whiskey and a few beers. A search warrant at the residence found the firearm that matched the firearm in the photo and clothing matching the clothing worn in the photo. Johnson is charged with 5 counts of 3rd Degree Felony Aggravated Assault and 1 count of Misdemeanor Public Intoxication. He was ordered to be held without bail.
