A warrant has been issued and charges filed against a man who stayed in Uintah County for a few weeks as a paid employee of a signature gathering company. Uintah County made an announcement on Tuesday morning that during a recent petition effort, the Clerk-Auditor Office identified a group of submitted signatures as potentially fraudulent and the matter was referred to the Vernal Police Department. Court documents reveal that as a result of the investigation, 40-year-old Chadwick Kluttz is charged with 11 counts of 3rd Degree Felony Forgery and 11 counts of Misdemeanor ‘Unlawfully Sign Certificate of Nomination Signature Sheet’. The Probable Cause Statement shares that on or between the dates of December 30, 2025, and January 19, 2026, Chadwick Kluttz was in Uintah County gathering signatures as an employee of a signature gathering company, verified by the company GPS and motel records. “Officers spoke to 9 individuals that had packets that were signed in their name. The individuals all confirmed that it was not their signature and they did not authorize anyone to sign the packet on their behalf. 2 of the individuals who had signed packets were dead and had died prior to the date the packet showed as being signed. [Chadwick Kluttz] had signed the packets with his name certifying that he had properly gathered the signatures.” A Warrant was issued for Kluttz’ arrest on April 1st and as of April 28th he was not in custody.
