A man found dead in a Vernal hotel room on March 4th has been tied to a previously unsolved robbery in Craig. Just days before, Airgas in Craig was broken into and multiple bottles of nitrous oxide, also known as laughing gas, were stolen. After 33-year-old Steve Fortin was discovered deceased in the Vernal hotel room his family contacted police after discovering Airgas cylinders while cleaning out Fortin’s storage locker. According to his family, Fortin had been addicted to nitrous oxide since high school and he had admitted to family members that he had stolen nitrous oxide. No information has been released on Fortin’s death in March or the circumstances surrounding it.
