The Duchesne County Sheriff’s Office shared following the arrest that on September 21st, 2023, deputies responded to the Arcadia area of Duchesne County in response to Brent Gilbert calling dispatch and stating that he had killed his wife. When deputies arrived on scene they found the deceased body of his wife Stacey Gilbert. Brent Gilbert was taken into custody and transported to the Uintah Basin Medical Center for treatment of a self-inflicted injury to his wrist. He was then transported to the Duchesne County Jail and booked for Aggravated Murder. The 8th District judge ruled in May 2025 that Brent Nello Gilbert was not competent based on the medical expert reports and the charges against Gilbert were officially dismissed last month.
