A man on parole pulled over in Myton City this week was arrested and is facing new felony drug charges. According to the Affidavit of Probable Cause, the officer confirmed that the driver, 50-year-old Russell Robert Sweat, was on parole and had him and the passenger exit the vehicle to perform a parole search. The officer located a black magnetic box under the driver seat. Inside the box was 2 baggies containing 53 grams of Methamphetamine, a baggie containing 34 Fentanyl pills, and another baggie with what appeared to be powder Fentanyl. A back pack in the back seat had a scale inside, as well as several hundred baggies, several used hypodermic syringe needles, and at least one loaded needle. A container with white crystal Meth in it was also found in the vehicle. Sweat said the cell phone on the front seat belonged to him. His parole officer was contacted and gave the officer permission to search Sweat’s phone which had been receiving messages and calls during the stop. The officer noted that the messages reflected people trying to buy drugs from him and communicating where to meet. Russell Robert Sweat was arrested and because he has at least 2 prior felony drug convictions is charged with 2 counts of 1st Degree Felony Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Distribute and Misdemeanor Possession of Paraphernalia.
