A man was arrested last week for allegedly stealing a gun suppressor from a Vernal store. According to the Affidavit of Probable Cause, security camera footage of the incident showed a man positively identified as James Swett reaching over the counter to find the cabinet had been left unlocked. He took a Silencer Company Scythe TI worth around $1000. The theft occurred on April 29th and Swett was located on May 7th. He was transported to the Uintah County Jail where he was booked. 45-year-old James Burnett Swett is charged with 3rd Degree Felony Burglary and Misdemeanor Retail Theft.
