Major Economic Benefits from Dinosaur National Monument Tourism

Tourism to Dinosaur National Monument created over $20 million dollars in local economic benefits in 2016. According to a new National Park Service report, the Monument had 304,312 visitors last year that spent $18,084,200 dollars in communities near the park, supporting 244 local jobs and creating a total cumulative benefit to the local economy of $20,457,600 dollars. The report broke down the spending as approximately 31 percent for lodging, 27 percent for food and beverages, 12 percent on gas and oil, 10 percent on admissions and fees, 10 percent souvenirs and other expenses, 7 percent local transportation, and 3 percent camping fees.
