Maine Fire Burning Near Rod and Gun Club Up Dry Fork

A new fire is burning in Uintah County up Dry Fork. According to the Uintah Basin Interagency Fire Center, the Maine Fire is burning on top of the ridge by the Rod and Gun Club. The fire was called in
at 4:43pm on Tuesday
. Structures were initially threatened but the fire moved and is now burning in pinion and juniper. Multiple agencies responded including Vernal City, Naples, Jensen, Lapoint/Tridell, BLM, Forest Service, and BIA.
At about 5:00pm
it was estimated to have burned about 20 acres but was still moving.
At 6:00pm
, Sheriff Vance Norton said there was not yet an evacuation ordered for homes but that residences in Dry Fork close to where the fire might come through have been notified that they may have to evacuate. At this time, however, they are just on standby.
