A big boom, shaking homes, and rattled knick knacks – descriptions of Wednesday’s reported earthquake in northeastern Utah poured into chats on social media almost immediately after it happened. The most commonly asked question was simply, what was that!? The US Geological Survey provided the answer soon after, reporting a Magnitude 4.1 earthquake a few miles west of Maeser. “If anyone has any damage from the earthquake we ask they report it to Uintah County Emergency Management via email with pictures,” shares Uintah County Emergency Management Director Heidi Lundberg. “They can also report the damages via social media ‘Uintah County Emergency Management’.” If you would like to report what you felt to the US Geological Survey, visit earthquake.usgs.gov.
