For the second year in a row, Maeser Elementary students have participated in a fantastic and thoughtful service project while raising money to help a fellow student. First-grader Fisher Kidd is a great young man who loves to be active but is in need of a new kind of walker as he has cerebral palsy and recently had to have surgery on his legs. “Fisher loves coming to school and seeing all of the kids. He loves being outside and spending time with his family,” Maeser Principal Denise Williams wrote. “With this new walker it will help Fisher be able to enjoy this part of his journey to becoming independent.” Students were encouraged to donate $2 each as well as perform at least four acts of kindness which they would write down on papers shaped like a drop of water that were then pinned to a board to ‘Fill The Bucket For Fisher’. The students met their goal of raising over $1200 dollars to help Fisher’s family buy the new walker needed as well as their goal of performing 2000 acts of extraordinary kindness. As a reward, the entire student body took a two-mile walk with Fisher and his family on Monday with all involved cheering loudly for Fisher as he crossed under the finishing arch. Well done to the administration and students of Maeser Elementary for being a true example of comradery and kindness!
