Impaired driving is something law enforcement as a whole battles in order to protect the public but the efforts of some officers go above and beyond. The Colorado branch of MADD, Mothers Against Drunk Driving, announced this week that an officer with Rifle Police Department, Officer Kelli Litzau, has been named the ‘MADD Colorado DUI Enforcement Hero’. “Officer Litzau is passionate about making our community safer by enforcing the laws addressing impaired driving,” shares the announcement. “She motivates her fellow employees to participate in CDOT DUI campaigns, and she shares the knowledge she has garnered with her teammates. In addition, she is a resource for officers from other agencies – answering their questions and providing advice. It is important to note that Officer Litzau works in a small, rural community that covers just over 7 square miles and has approximately 9,700 citizens. Yet, despite having jurisdiction in a small area, she excels at locating and arresting impaired drivers.” Congratulations Officer Litzau and thank you for all you do to make the community a MUCH safer place!
