A Vernal man has pleaded guilty to a charge of attempted child sex abuse. Steven Joseph Lucero had previously pleaded guilty to Attempted Aggravated Assault and Child Abuse related to an incident on December 5th, 2015 as well as to charges related to domestic violence on December 28th, 2015 and February 5th, 2016. The new charge of Aggravated Sexual Abuse of a Child, a 1st Degree Felony, was filed on
May 26th
. In court last Wednesday, counsel indicated they had reached a plea agreement in the case of child sexual abuse and Lucero entered a guilty plea to the lesser charge of Attempted Sex Abuse of a Child, a 3rd degree felony. Sentencing was scheduled for
October 25th
. Lucero will remain in custody at the Uintah County Jail until then.
