A local teacher is among the finalists for Utah’s Teacher of the Year. The Utah State Board of Education announced this week that Ashley Elementary teacher MarKay Anderson is among the top five finalists. MarKay has been teaching for over 33 years and is especially known for being able to work with students who struggle to read and teach those who need it most.
Every year, education agencies in Utah celebrate public education and the vital role of excellent teachers by selecting and honoring a teacher of the year in their district or charter. Each of these teachers of the year are then considered for selection as a finalist for the Utah Teacher of the Year program.
The Utah Teacher of the Year Awards Banquet will be held this fall to announce the Utah Teacher of the Year and recognize and celebrate all nominees. Congratulations to MarKay Anderson on this well deserved nomination!
