Secondary students competed last week at the Utah State University-Eastern Welding Competition and local students showed off their skills. The top three honors were secured by UBATC students. Jordan Wynn of Roosevelt secured a 1st place win. Cole Redding of Vernal took 2nd and Benchet Kenney of Vernal took 3rd place. The 4th place finisher was Jace Baird from Maple Mountain High School and 5th place went to McCade Lee also from Maple Mountain High School. The USU Eastern Welding program allows secondary students to work towards their Associate of Applied Science Degree that has been very successful in transitioning students into the welding industry. USU Eastern campuses also allow students to transfer the welding AAS program towards a 4-year welding engineering technology program.
