The Nursing program at USU-Uintah Basin continues to grow and among the keys to their success is the investment their staff has in the long-term health of the community. Their latest hire, Monte Hardinger, is one such example as a Uintah Basin local and Registered Nurse with over a decade of nursing experience. Hardinger is the new Assistant Professor of Nursing and has several generations of family living in the Uintah Basin. “Taking this position allows me to have a greater impact on the healthcare provided to my family, friends, and in the community I grew up in,” shares Hardinger. “I hope to foster a desire within students to not only provide the best personal care to all of their patients, but to also have a desire to pursue even higher education.” Hardinger believes the Uintah Basin is a great place for students to grow their careers as nurses, especially with the opportunities and up-to-date technology offered at the USU-Uintah Basin simulation lab. The nursing program offered in the Basin has received statewide attention as all the nursing graduates for the past two years have successfully passed the Utah RN licensure exam on their first attempt. Anyone interested in the nursing program can find out more information at an upcoming open house event on January 31st in Vernal and February 1st in Roosevelt at each respective USU-Uintah Basin campus.
