As part of Suicide Prevention Month, TriCounty Health Department has partnered with Northeastern Counseling to host meetings aimed at educating the public on suicide prevention. “In our area we have the second highest rates in the state among the other health districts,” shares TriCounty representative Jeramie Tubbs. “There are different causes and conditions that feed into that so we have some meetings coming up to explore those reasons why.” The meetings will focus on increasing public understanding and reducing stigma while offering training in QPR, a theory-based suicide prevention program. “We want to foster hope through dialogue,” explains Tubbs. “We are hoping if we get enough people trained as gate keepers, we can have some saves and improve things.” People can RSVP at
