TikTok challenges have added a new layer of struggle within schools from challenges to vandalize property to challenges to hit a teacher or other student. The latest challenge has school districts across the country informing parents and guardians and encouraging all to talk to their students. Duchesne County Sheriff Travis Tucker, like many others, has decided to address the public on the topic. The TikTok Challenge in question involves a threat of violence in schools across the nation and was aimed to take place on December 17th. “We have received no information or indication of threats in the Duchesne School District,” shares Sheriff Tucker. “We believe this threat is not credible, but the safety of students & community members is the top priority of the Duchesne County Sheriff’s Office. We have met with local school leaders and the Roosevelt Police Department to discuss this and we will have an increased presence in schools in our district on Friday the 17th. Please encourage your students to report any threats. If you see something, say something.” Uintah School District also issued a press release on the topic. They stated that after careful review there does NOT appear to be a credible threat but that there will be an increased presence of law enforcement officers as a precaution.
