The Uintah Basin has been enjoying the musical talents of Dante Zubel since his youth. He is perhaps best known for playing his cello for the Uintah Basin Orchestra and Chorus, Uintah High School, Uintah Basin Youth Chamber Orchestra, and beyond, though he plays many other instruments as well. He is also an awarded composer and composed a special number a few years ago for the local UBOC Christmas concert. Now Dante is getting ready to move on to his next phase of life after being accepted into Berklee College of Music. Not knowing what the future will bring, Dante and his local jazz band, Hummus, has put together an album. Formed a few years ago, the band is made up of local talent. Jared Nicholson plays trumpet, keyboards and melodica with Jared Heaps on the trombone, and A.J. Nichol on saxophone. If they sound familiar it is because all of them are local band teachers. Greg Rau is on drums and has been a professional drummer for Long Beach Symphony, the Disneyland Orchestra, and the Marine Corps Band. Halle Hailes is a talented high schooler who provides the vocals.  The album features several original songs and plenty of jazz standards. Entitled “Homemade” it can be found in the digital music section of

, the music sections of iTunes and YouTube, and will soon be available on Spotify and other music sites. There will also be hard copy CD’s that will be released soon as well. Let your toes tap to the beats laid down by this talented local group.
