A hardworking senior at Uintah High School has been named as a semifinalist in a prestigious scholarship program. Emily Despain was one of more than 1.6 million Juniors from about 22,000 high schools across the United States that took the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test during her Junior year. The test is the initial screening for the National Merit Scholarship Program and the semifinalists, of which Emily is a part, represent less than 1 percent of high school seniors in the United States. Now that Emily is part of this exclusive, high achieving group, she is eligible to compete for around 7,500 scholarships that are worth more than $31 million dollars to be offered in the spring. Congratulations to Uintah High School Senior Emily Despain! Emily is the daughter of Pam and Keith Despain.
