Local Businesses get Break on Rural Fast Track Grant Program

A grant program through the State of Utah will now be available to more local businesses in Uintah County. According to Economic Development Director Sylvia Wilkins, a temporary adjustment has been made to the requirements for small businesses to apply for the Rural Fast Track Grant Program. The program, available through the Governor’s Office of Economic Development, has been out of reach for many local businesses because one of the requirements has been to hire at least one new full-time employee at 110% of the county’s annual average wage. With the adjustment, businesses can now apply for the grant as long as they have just hired at least one new full-time employee without needing to be 110% of the average county wage. The grant reimburses 50% of the cost of a project up to $50,000 dollars. Projects could include equipment purchases, construction, or building upgrades. Those interested can call Sylvia at 781-6767.
