A special program through the Utah Food Bank is helping fill the gaps for local kids. The Kids Cafe at the Uintah County Library started one month ago and the response has been great with around 20 to 30 kids participating daily. Youth 18 and under are able to receive nutritious snacks and chocolate milk at the library from 3:30 to 4:30pm every day that the library is open. It was originally set up to run Monday through Friday but it was quickly decided to add Saturday to the schedule to be sure the program helped get kids through the weekend as well. The snacks include sunflower seeds, chicken salad, whole wheat chips and healthy dips and the kids so far really like what is offered, shares librarian Melinda Barlow. With the program’s success, Barlow says the library is in need of volunteers to help. If interested you can learn more by entering your zipcode at
