Persistence paid off last week when the Community Impact Board made a significant adjustment to the funding agreement for the Leland Bench Road project in Uintah County. According to a release from the Uintah County Commission, in most cases, the CIB requires that those who receive a loan/grant must spend the loan money before they can have the grant money. Yet, on Thursday, the CIB eliminated the requirement of using the $2.7 million dollars of loan money before receiving the $8.9 million dollars in grant funding. Commissioner Brad Horrocks was involved in requesting the funding adjustments by the CIB and applauded the decision to drop the loan requirement. “We as a County and our 6 Special Service Districts need to adjust to our reduced levels of funding, especially our mineral lease money,” shares Commissioner Horrocks. “That doesn’t mean we stop delivering services to County residents but it does mean we need to be smarter in how we spend our money.”
