Lapoint Elementary Gives “Help for U”

While college students can certainly be positive role models for kids, Lapoint Elementary students are shaking up the stereotype. Each grade and class at Lapoint Elementary has adopted former Lapoint Elementary students that are now all grown up and attending college. The school is calling the campaign “Help for U” and classes have sent cards, care packages, and some have even skyped with their adopted college students. In return, the college students are mentoring the kids to understand what it takes to go to college, encouraging them to live their dreams. The campaign is part of a bigger network called No Excuses University which Lapoint Elementary is a part. When schools exhibit a culture of universal achievement by believing in students, they collaborate around that belief. The “Help for U” program is providing for that in a fun way that all involved believe will make a lasting impression.
