Roosevelt City Council has appointed David Labrum as the replacement for the vacancy on City Council after the departure of Albert Foster who accepted a career opportunity on the Wasatch Front last month. Four applicants; David Labrum, Kendall Murphy, Stephen Timothy, and Damon Zufelt; introduced themselves at the beginning of Tuesday’s meeting. Public input was then allowed during which Roosevelt citizen Mike Stengel asked if the Council would delay the vote to the next meeting so the incoming Mayor and incoming City Council member could be part of the decision once seated. Stengel said all the candidates are great and it may not change the outcome but that the decision will affect the next two years so why not just wait two weeks. When asked for their input by the Council, incoming Mayor J.R. Bird and incoming council member David Baird both said they would rather the Council wait the two weeks. Following the public input, the applicants were interviewed by the Council. The Council moved forward and appointed David Labrum. Labrum served on the City Council from 2010 to 2014 and was reelected for a second term during which he resigned in order to serve in his church.
