A man has been charged with kidnapping and robbery in Uintah County. According to the Affidavit of Probable Cause, Finley Hartman showed up uninvited to his ex-girlfriend’s place of work after she had recently blocked him from all communication. She was sitting in her vehicle when Finley allegedly opened the driver’s side door, grabbed her phone off her lap, unclasped and removed her smart watch, and removed the keys from the vehicle’s ignition. Under his instructions, she got into Finley’s truck and he drove them to the leasing office of his apartment building. After visiting the leasing office, she instructed Finley to drive her back to her vehicle but Finley told her no. Finley instructed her to help clean the apartment and afterwards she requested he take her back to her vehicle but Finley again refused. She tried to get her phone, watch, and keys back but Finley said no and allegedly pushed her away. The victim’s family became concerned for her safety around this time and the family showed up at the apartment but Finley would not allow her to respond and allegedly told her he would pull a gun on the victim’s father if she were to open the door. Police responded and spoke with all involved. Out of fear of the threats made, she did not disclose any crimes at that time and told police what Finley told her to say. After police left, Finley took her back to her car. After the victim disclosed the events, law enforcement was called. 21-year-old Finley James Hartman was arrested on August 24th and is charged with 2nd Degree Felony Kidnapping, 2nd Degree Felony Robbery, 3rd Degree Felony Tampering with a Witness, and Misdemeanor Burglary of a Vehicle.
