A recent job posting has contributed to buzz on the streets of increased job demand in the oil and gas industry. Elwood Staffing listed a posting and held a job fair to hire over 150 positions for oil field company Schlumberger, providing the opportunity for local men and women who have been out of work in the oil industry to apply for this new opportunity. “These jobs are not necessarily local in the Basin,” shares Robert Gilbert from Workforce Services, “ but they are in Wyoming or North Dakota and many travel and work 2 weeks on, 2 weeks off. This is still a really good kind of hiring opportunity.” There have been other signs of industry improvement, according to Gilbert, but they have not been as dramatic as the Schlumberger listing. There has been an increase in workover rig companies hiring and among other oilfield service companies, though not within big rig companies.
