A business owner who has served the Basin community in countless ways is passing the baton to a new owner after several decades. In her own words, Jill Goodman came “kicking and screaming” to the Uintah Basin as the new owner of the Vernal McDonald’s and now 35 years later she is “kicking and screaming” at the thought of moving on. One thing that has helped soften the blow of selling the Vernal and Roosevelt McDonald’s has been in knowing that the new owner will be a local operator. “I worried about selling to a big operator who wouldn’t care about this area but we lucked out,” explains Goodman. “While we are selling to a big organization, one of the sons is moving his family to Vernal in order to operate both restaurants. I’m thrilled there will continue to be a local presence in the Basin.” Goodman says new owner Robert Parrish is young and energetic and will do a great job.
