Congratulations are in order for young Jackson Labrum, the 2026 Utah State Elks Hoop Shoot Champion and runner-up at the Western United States Region 7 Championship. In January, Jackson traveled to Tooele to represent Vernal in the Utah Northern District contest. Jackson came out on top as the Northern District Champion making 22 of 25 free throws. On February 7th, Jackson traveled to Provo to compete against the Southern Utah winner and came out on top again, making 22 of 25 free throws to become the 2026 Utah State Champion. On February 21st, the Labrum family traveled to Las Vegas so Jackson could represent Utah in the 10/11 boys Western United States Region 7 competition and it came down to Arizona and Utah in the final two spots. Jackson and his Arizona competitor tied in the first round and then each had to shoot 15 more free throws. Arizona made just one more free throw meaning Jackson brought home second place in the Elks Western United States Region 7 Championship. Approximately five hundred thousand 10 to 11 year old boys competed in the hoop shoot nationwide and Jackson Labrum tied for 13th place. Congratulations to Jackson Labrum!
