The old county building in Duchesne City remodeled to house the Gateway Senior Center, Duchesne County Library, and USU Extension is complete and an open house was held last weekend. The ‘Irene Hansen Building’ welcomed over 300 guests from the community who were eager to see the finished product and among them was the community leader who the building is named after. “The good work that we will see done out of that building literally checks every box,” shares Hansen. “Words cannot express the appreciation I have for the staff who work there. The pride and what they do is evident not only in their beautiful smiles, but in the good work that they do. They really believe in providing the best for Duchesne County residents.” When asked what it means to be the building’s namesake, Irene said that nothing can prepare someone to be sincerely honored in such a way. “I can’t even imagine a greater honor,” shares Hansen. “I sometimes go and just sit in front of the building because it is a feeling of great joy and deep appreciation for all Duchesne County is.”
