The Uintah County Commission approved an interlocal agreement on Monday with Daggett County for contracting their jail employees. 80 state inmates were removed from the Daggett County Jail in February and 2 employees were put on administrative leave after the Utah Department of Corrections began an investigation into misconduct. During the course of the investigation, the 2 employees were terminated from their positions. As the investigation continues, Uintah and Daggett County explored the interlocal agreement. Sheriff Vance Norton explains that the Uintah County Jail is currently down 5 deputies and 3 controllers and bringing down Daggett County employees would be a win-win situation. On Monday, Sheriff Norton said Daggett County has 2 jailers and 2 controllers that have been cleared and are ready to come down to work at the Uintah County Jail. More could be approved in the future.
