Smoke from an industrial fire could be seen for miles on Friday south of Ouray in Uintah County. According to Avalon Fire Chief Joey Rodriguez, a call came in of an oil well fire on Friday morning around 10:30am. The Avalon Fire crew arrived on scene and found four collection tanks up in flames. Three of the tanks were holding crude oil and one was holding water. The Avalon crew took the initial attack and as the Lapoint/Tridell crew arrived, they were assigned to rig up another foam line and continued foaming until the fire was extinguished, explains Chief Rodriguez. The well site is owned by Finley Resources and the cause of the fire is unknown at this time. No one was on location at the time of the fire and no injuries were reported. Vernal City Fire Department also responded and assisted on the fire.
