Idaho Man Charged After Meth And Firearm Located In Vehicle During Stop

An Idaho man has been charged in relation to a September traffic stop in Uintah County. According to the Probable Cause Statement, “On September 3rd, 2025, in Uintah County, officers with the Uintah/Ouray Safe Trails Task Force conducted a traffic stop on a gray Dodge Challenger after confirming the vehicle had no valid insurance. [57-year-old Michael Mitchell of Heyburn, Idaho] was identified as the driver and admitted his driver’s license was not valid. A K9 was deployed and gave a positive indication on the vehicle, and [Mitchell] informed officers there was a meth pipe located between the driver’s seat and center console, which was found wrapped in a blue bandana and seized. [Mitchell] also stated there was a firearm in the trunk. A search revealed a .22 caliber Ruger Wrangler revolver. [Mitchell] admitted to using Methamphetamine approximately 10 days prior and, as a drug user found in possession of a glass pipe with residue, is restricted from possessing firearms as a category II restricted person.” Michael Mitchell is charged with 3rd Degree Felony Prohibited Dangerous Weapon Conduct, Possession of a Controlled Substance and Paraphernalia, Driving on a Denied License, and Operating a Vehicle without Insurance.
