The fall hunt is an anticipated family event for many in the Uintah Basin and among the many preparations being made, National Weather Service is urging hunters be prepared for cold and wet winter conditions. “Hunters engaged in the various open hunting seasons will experience winter weather conditions at the higher elevations,” shares the announcement. “Accumulations up to elevations around 7500 feet will generally see between 1 and 3 inches [of snow]. Above 7500 feet, snow totals will climb into the 5 to 10 inch range with up to 12 inches at the highest elevations of the Wasatch and western Uinta mountain ranges.” General travel conditions are also being affected on Uintah Basin roads and those traveling Daniels Summit or Indian Canyon are especially urged to use caution as the winter conditions can catch travelers by surprise.
